LeCharles Bentley Sidelined for the Season

The first day of the Reggie Bush holdout was met with a minor indirect piece of good news for the Saints. Former Pro Bowl center, LeCharles Bentley, who signed with the Browns in the offseason (and then New Orleans traded to get Cleveland center Jeff Faine- essentially making it a trade), severely injured his knee yesterday on the first day of contact drills at Browns training camp. This is good news because we didn't pay the $11 million that the Browns paid just to have him sit on the sideline all year. Faine is a more durable linemen (knock on wood) that has experience in a solid running game in Cleveland blocking for Reuben Droughns. This is the first time I can ever remember something like this happening in the Saints favor. It's usually the big time free agent signee for the Saints being the one hurt (Allen Pinkett, Jeff Blake). Anyway, let's just keep our fingers crossed for Reggie.
