General Gregory N. Pigott: Late Night Music New Year's Eve Edition Part 85........"It's A New Day"

Wow! What a 365 days! As I get ready to bring in the last day of 2010, I look back at one of the most eventful, confusing, landmarked, and emotional years of my life. In January, I experienced one of the happiest moments of my life when the New Orleans Saints won Super Bowl 44. In March, I walked away from a career path that I thought was the one I was born for. In May, I officiated what may have been my last game ever. The thought of this still haunts me. However, just a few days later, I met some of the best friends I've ever had in my life and started a completely new job that has come to re define the person I am and has become a much needed relief and great bridge to the next step. In July, I lost my grandmother who was 91 years old. In October, I turned 29, and for the first time in years, I had people around me that I actually felt cared about me. This was the first birthday in 4 years I had actually spent with someone besides myself. In November, I celebrated my 10 year reunion from graduating from high school and saw that no matter what you did in high school, people will always appreciate you for who you REALLY are. Along the way, I made some great memories with some great people, and also erased people from my life that I hope I never see again. I also left behind some great people that I wish I could see every day and that I think about every day. All the while, these lists and the music in them was always my release from the stresses of every day life and some of the greatest compliments I've ever received is how much you all enjoy reading them. Not only have I hopefully gotten you into some new music, I've hopefully brought a smile to your face and warmth to your heart that just can't be measured physically. The only goal I've really ever had in life is to make a difference and to affect people's lives, and even with something little I was able to at least make you laugh and hopefully change your day or maybe even more.

With that being said, tonight's list is the rare "serious" list as all songs tonight were put on the list solely due to their strong personal meaning to me over the past year and their lyrics that seemed to basically sum up my life and help me look forward to a new year. At one point or another whether it was happy or sad, all of these songs played a huge part in my life over the last calendar year. I will not be commenting on the videos tonight, as all of these songs speak for themselves. I will be back in 2011 with more lists to entertain you, but tonight I simply wanted to give you a glimpse into the music that has truly been the soundtrack of my life over the last year. Happy new year everyone, and as always, thank you so much for being my TRUE friends.
